According to reports, the Toronto Music Garden was named as such because cellist Yo-Yo Ma and other musicians envisioned the garden to be based on Johann Sebastian Bach’s Suites for Unaccompanied Cello. The project was not supported at first but Toronto’s Parks Department helped with the funding so the Toronto Music Garden is what it is now.
The Toronto Music Garden is not just for walking the dogs or a place for children to run around but it is also for concerts because it houses an amphitheater somewhere in the garden. Most performances here are held during the summer and they are usually free.
