Singer Janelle Monae, who is a Grammy winner, will be singing two original songs for the Disney classic “Lady and the Tramp.” The live-action reboot of the 1955 flick is now in the works.

According to the people working closely for the project, although the film is set sometime in 1910 and the music is blues-ragtime vibe, the personal sound of Monae will surely be represented. Reports say that she will be singing a new version of “The Siamese Cat Song,” which has received backlash for being racist. The track was very problematic because it perpetuated Asian stereotypes during that era.

“Lady and the Tramp” centers on the love story of two dogs. One of them is a pampered cocker spaniel while the other is a stray mutt. Lady finds herself living on the streets after getting out of her home and at some point, a romantic connection blossoms between her and Tramp.
