– Many dogs were taken to the newly-opened park over the weekend.
The soft opening took place on October 19. The dog park is located across the Hancock County Animal Shelter on Gas Valley Road. The park has two fields that are gated and one is for the largest dogs while the other is for the smaller animals. During the soft opening, a lot of dogs attended so they can already try and play around the dog park.
There was also a pet blessing and a ribbon cutting on the day of the soft opening. Vendors selling dog-related items were also in the area. Commissioner Paul Cowey said in a statement, “I’m just happy for the turnout and I want to continue inviting residents to the dog park, it’s for them to use. I want to thank everyone who made this park happen.”
The grand opening will be during spring after they install the other features and agility equipment at the new dog park.
