The Golden Meadows Dog Park was created for small and large dogs to exercise and for their humans to socialize. The dog park was actually the idea of a 17-year-old Girl Scout ambassador. She lobbied the officials in the area and raise funds for the first ever dog park of the city for the past two years.

During the event, there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony, demonstrations, counselling and animal assisted therapy, and live music by Fossil Creek Band. Adoptable dogs and other animals were also present from the Teller County Regional Animal Shelter.

There was also a mile dog walk and agility course for the participants.
