To ensure that drugs will not be rampant at the Field Day Music Festival in Sydney on New Year’s Day, a lot of police officers and police dogs were deployed at the event. A total of 169 people were arrested some of them were charged with possession while two were charged with supply.

Those arrested were identified by the police sniffer dogs to be carrying drugs. One man was tackled and later strip searched. He hid the drugs in his underwear and later confessed to having them. The man said that strip searches should not be allowed and police should just test the event-goers since they know that many of them have already consumed the drugs before going to the event.
To make the operation run smoothly, at least 20 police officers were not wearing uniforms and went undercover both inside and outside the venue of the music festival.
