As a session player and music teacher, Alvin has worked with the likes of Andy Hamilton, Edwin Starr, The Foundations, Neville Staples (Specials & Fun Boy Three), Alton Ellis, Macka B, Jackie Graham, Nigel Kennedy and David Hinds of Steel Pulse. Releasing his debut album ‘Let It Blow’ (Sony Tristar 1992), was for Alvin; “an opportunity to bare my soul in the studio and fulfil my ambitions.” For the critics it was “an erotic mix of horn and sax with expressive sensuality.”
‘Let It Blow’ took Alvin around the world, with the album reaching number 4 on the American R&R (New Adult Contemporary) National Airplay chart, winning him the first round of the critical acclaim that has become a hallmark of his career on both sides of the Atlantic. The album also broke into the Top 10 of the influential Gavin A2 Adult Alternative chart in America. In fact, such was the Stateside success of ‘Let it Blow’ that Alvin was even a topic of conversation on the top rated US TV programme The Arsineo Hall Show, which can count likes of Madonna among its guests, and was also given a mention, on british TV, as,’ someone from the UK his been listening to,’ by none other than… Prince.
The follow up ‘Let The Vibes Decide’ (Ripe Recordings 1994), did even better for Alvin, selling over 10,000 copies pre-release, it peaked at number 3 in the USA and took Alvin back on the road again, winning him more enthusiastic praise from the critics. This included comparisons with Gerald Albright, Kim Waters, David Sanborn and Kenny G.
Take Flight’ (Hornblower / Teklife 1999), which was written, recorded and produced in Birmingham for his own Hornblower Productions, and also won crucial acclaim for the multi-talented saxophonist, vocalist, producer and songwriter. Alvin enthusiastically agrees that…. “COMMOTION, (his latest recording) is my most fully realized album.
I feel I’ve succeeded in incorporating more of an urban flavour, ’cause musically my roots are firmly in R&B and reggae. I grew up listening to Stevie (Wonder), Earth, Wind & Fire, Grover Washington Jr., Ronnie Laws, and these days you’ll find me listening to Jill Scott, D’Angelo and other neo soul artists”.

David A Saylor is a Spanish/American, born in Norfolk Virginia USA and raised in San Antonio Abad Ibiza. His Mother is Spanish and his father American.
He has enjoyed success in the charts right from the word go…. His first solo album entitled ‘One on One’ entered the top 40 Spanish charts in 1990 where it remained in the top 10 for many weeks, achieving gold record status.
In 1993 David worked with Motown legend Edwin Starr. Together they recorded a cover of the old McFadden and Whitehead hit ‘Ain’t No stopping Us Now.’ This single was a hit in the European & UK dance charts.
David then recorded a gospel album with Spanish singer Myriam Fultz, together they achieved platinum and gold record sales in South and North America, Mexico, Spain and Puerto Rico. The gospel album ‘Padre Nuestro’ was launched worldwide between 1995 – 1999 and produced two top 40 hit singles in the U.S.A Latin Billboard Charts. The first being ‘Oh Senor’ a Spanish cover of the George Harrison hit ‘My Sweet Lord’, this was quickly followed by ‘Yo Estare’ a cover of the Jackson five classic ‘I’ll Be there’. In 2005, David and Myriam released a compilation CD called ‘Lo Mejor de lo Espiritual’ out on the Latin Universal label. This album proved to be a huge success.
David has also performed for the Samoa Prime Minister and The King of The Tonga.
Having received his musical education from the likes of Cyril Perfect, Mario Watoski and Tim Kliphuis, the young Midlands violinist Pete Hartley set forth to London in the early 1980s, to find fame and fortune, armed only with a violin, a mandolin, and a youthful sense of invincibility! Pete discovered a love of gypsy and jazz music alongside his classical education, and when he wasn’t playing session violin for the likes of The Goodies and Not the Nine O’Clock News, he was to be found in the capital’s seediest jazz bars, playing free-form jazz with equally seedy, free-form people…
Pete was encouraged by the positive reception that his crowd-pleasing gigging and busking antics were receiving and decided to record some tapes to sell at his gigs and busking spots. Little knowing where this would lead, he released his first single, “Snake in the Grass” in 1985, and has since recorded over 20 records of both original and cover material under his own name, and worked with the very best in the business on dozens more albums for other artists.
Pete’s playing got him noticed, and he spent much of the 1980s on tour with the Olivier Award-winning Blood Brothers theatre show, jazz outfit Barbara Thompson’s Paraphernalia and 20th Century Blues. Pete moved back to his native West Midlands and spent several seasons at Alton Towers theme park, helping to soothe the stomachs of queasy roller-coaster victims. He also found time to win a heat of the talent show New Faces, and reject the advances of the ever-youthful Nina Myskow!
More recently, the impetuosity of youth behind him (but not the youth itself, he hastens to add), Pete has become one of the country’s most accomplished and in-demand function and wedding musicians, playing wedding, corporate and governmental gigs in front of the likes of Bill Clinton, Bertie Ahern, Princess Anne and, in a personal career highlight, Joanna Lumley! Pete also teaches violin, mandolin and music theory from his home in Worcestershire, using video conferencing technology to teach students from all over the world. Pete’s first instructional DVD, “Blues Lessons for Violin”, was released in 2005.
